Introduction

Thinking Sustainable Development has two purposes.  As a researcher and evaluator I can offer consultancy in sustainable development; write reports and articles to suit a range of audiences and edit magazines and newsletters.  This website is a showcase for my writing and will take an interesting and sometimes controversial look at sustainable development.

Sustainable development offers challenges and opportunities – the development of renewable energy, sustainable buildings and new technologies; a better quality of life for all people, greater security and an appreciation of the ecosystems and other species, and more. 

We shall not ignore the harsh reality of the absolute necessity for change, but will highlight the benefits and positive aspects.

We are the first species to be able to reflect on the past and to imagine and plan for the future.  But as Carl Jung said, people cannot stand too much reality.

We need to capture the hearts and minds of the majority by showing them there is a future, without mass extinctions or wearing a hair shirt and sandals.

Serendipity
